Becoming a
volunteer

If you’re interested in volunteering with knus, take a moment to read through the information on this page and submit an application.

Are you age of majority and based in the Canada?

You must have reached the age of majority and be permanently residing in Canada to take part.

Do you have a laptop and a quiet space?

You’ll need access to a laptop and a quiet, private space where you can volunteer comfortably.

How much time can you commit?

We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week. We’re flexible and aim to work around your availability wherever possible.

Are you open to learning?

All volunteers receive training before getting started. Peer support roles require approximately 20–25 hours of volunteer training to ensure you feel confident and supported.

Important points.


To volunteer with knus, you’ll be required to complete a background check and provide two references before beginning training. Don’t worry - we’ll guide you through each step and support you along the way.

knus is a nonprofit organization, and we work hard to keep costs as low as possible. If your application is successful, we’ll ask for a contribution toward the cost of your Enhanced Canadian Criminal Record Check. The cost of this check is $30 CAD.

All training is provided by knus and our training partners. Training sessions are delivered online using video conferencing platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
What roles are available?

We have the following roles open:

1) Peer Support Coach

2) Administrative roles in various projects

3) Marketing

4) Ambassador program (ID check and basic background search - no donation required).

How does the peer support role work?

Our support is delivered through chat and phone conversations, allowing you to help others from home using our secure communication system.
