Our why

About us

Change the way we seek mental health support, for the better, forever.

knus was founded on lived experience and a heartfelt commitment to helping others. Seven years ago, our founder endured one of the most challenging periods of his life, navigating a severe mental health breakdown and embarking on a lengthy road to recovery. Through that journey, and particularly during the isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, one truth stood out above all else: peer support is transformative.

What began as a personal dedication to supporting a single individual has since grown into something far greater. From developing accredited anxiety-support courses to launching a peer support training program, Knus has been shaped by the core values of empathy, connection, and hope, with each milestone deepening a service grounded in mutual understanding and shared experience.

What once started with a single volunteer has blossomed into a thriving community of more than 800 volunteers. At Knus, we firmly believe that no one should have to face mental health challenges alone, because sometimes the most profound support comes from someone who has truly walked the same path.

To always be ‘by your side’ when you need mental health peer support.

Unlike traditional services, knus connects you with peer support coaches who truly understand, because they have lived it themselves.

Every peer supporter brings lived experience of mental health challenges or similar life journeys, offering more than just support. They bring empathy, understanding, and hope rooted in real experience.

Once you join, you will be matched with a dedicated Peer Support Coach who will walk alongside you. We will be transparent about the duration of your time working together, so you know exactly what to expect every step of the way.
